Announcement: 2020-2021 Season

Considering the pandemic of the COVID-19, Asia League Ice Hockey (Chairman: Sumio Kobayashi) has contemplated the schedule amendment to start the 2020-2021 season from between the first week of September and the middle of October by pushing back the beginning. However, we sincerely announce that the executive committee of the league, which consists of representatives from each team, has passed the resolution and decided not to hold the Asia League with the full package this year with each team traveling overseas, in light of the failure to meet all the requirements of the following key criteria,

l  Restrictions on international travel among the three countries have been lifted.

l  The quarantine after an entry into Japan has been lifted.

l  The environment has been conducive to the use of arenas at each country for sports events.

From now on, we will be making our effort to hold the Asia League 2020-2021 season from January 2021 to April 2021. The decision will be made based on whether the main criteria above are met on September 1st, 2020.

Although holding the season across national borders is as mentioned above, Asia League will are also seeking to organize the Asia League in the form of the regional championships in accordance with the social affair, respecting the situation in each country and the intention of each team, and giving the maximum consideration to the spread of the COVID-19.

We will announce more details as they are finalized.
