Announcement : 2020-2021 Season(UPDATED)
Asia League Ice Hockey has been preparing for the 2020-2021 season to be held from January to April 2021, however, taking into account the impact of the spread of theCOVID-19 the league could not meet the requirements of the following key criteria for implementation which are previously announced,
Restrictions on international travel among the three countries have been lifted.
The quarantine after an entry into Japan has been lifted.
The environment has been conducive to the use of arenas at each country for sports events.
Therefore, the Executive Committee of the league, which consists of representatives from each team, has made a decision not to host the Asia League as a full package. Therefore, the regular league with teams from three countries will be cancelled this season.
From now on, we will consider holding an Asia League tournament with three countries from the end of March to April 2021. We will announce more details of the feasibility and the outline of the tournament as they are finalized.
In the meantime, we will respect the situation in each country and the intentions of the teams in each country at the beginning of the year, and will be looking for a way to hold the tournament as a regional championship within each country in accordance with the situation in each country, taking maximum care to prevent the spread of the new coronavirus.
